Keynote speakers:

It's a pleasure to announce the Invited Speakers for CoDaWork2019: Prof. Hongze Li and Dr. Joanna Morais. Prof. Hongze Li has a wide experience in Biostatistics and part of his present research deals with application of compositional data techniques to 'omics' problems. Dr. Joanna Morais was awarded as Best general contribution in CoDaWork2017. The CoDaAssociation wants to give visibility to the awardees through these invited conferences.

Prof. Hongze Li:

Dr. Hongzhe Li is a Professor of Biostatistics and Statistics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn). He is Vice Chair of Integrative Research in the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics, Chair of the Graduate Program in Biostatistics and Director of Center of Statistics in Big Data at Penn. Dr. Li has been elected as a Fellow of the American Statistical Association (ASA), a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS) and a Fellow of AAAS. Dr. Li served on the Board of Scientific Counselors of the National Cancer Institute of NIH and regularly serves on various NIH study sections. He is currently an Associate Editor of Biometrics, Statistica Sinica and also Chief co-Editor of Statistics in Biosciences. He served as Chair of the Section on Statistics in Genomics and Genetics of the ASA. Dr. Li’s research has been focused on developing powerful statistical and computational methods for analysis of large-scale genetic, genomics and metagenomics data and high dimensional statistics with applications in genomics. He has published papers in Science, Nature, Nature Genetics, Nature Methods, Science Translational Medicine, JASA, JRSS, Biometrika, Annals of Statistics etc.

Dr. Joanna Morais:

After a Master in Statistics and Econometrics, Joanna Morais obtained her PhD in applied mathematics in 2017 at Toulouse School of Economics in collaboration with BVA, a society of studies and consulting. Her thesis is about the impact of media investments on market shares in the automobile market, using a compositional approach. She proposed to combine the marketing, econometric and compositional literatures in order to model properly market-shares, and she developed an interpretation of the compositional model in terms of elasticity, consistent with the simplex space. She won the best general oral presentation prize at CoDaWork 2017 for this development. Three of her articles are published in international journals (Journal of Applied Statistics, Austrian Journal of Statistics, Statistical Methods in Medical Research Journal). She was recently honoured by the Paul Sabatier's thesis prize in mathematics-informatics. Joanna is currently a data scientist consultant at Quantmetry, a very innovating French consulting firm, leader in data science, where she can continue to do research in many fields of application.
